Second Team began their season with a convincing victory over Maghull at Wadham Road to send out a message that their top priority for the new campaign is a return to the Premier Division at the first attempt following relegation in 2018.  Andy opted to bat first and he (45), Joe Nagle (81) and Sam Pierce (50) took an immediate stranglehold on the match which led to a healthy declaration at 211-3 after exactly thirty-eight overs.

The visitors had four ex-Bootleians in their line-up in Shaun Hornby, Andy Malone, Tony Molloy and Bill Powell but their batting was unable to cope with the belligerence of a fully fired-up Tom Meskell who tore through their order with an excellent 5-23 from 15.1 overs.  When the total plummeted from 60-3 to 71-7 the writing was on the wall, and although Malone top scored with 32 Maghull were sent packing for 137 in the forty-sixth over to lose by 74 runs.
