SADLY TWO DEFEATS LAST WEEKEND

Josh Bohannon with an excellent 128 not out from 141 deliveries put our bowling attack to the sword ably assisted by George Lavelle, 68 from 70 balls, and Alex Rankin, unbeaten on 39 from 26 chalks, in very productive second wicket stands of 125 and 89 unbroken for the fourth wicket respectively as Ormskirk amassed a very healthy 267 for 3 from their allocated 45 overs in the first round of the Ray Digman Trophy. In response only four batsmen Will Hale, Neil Williams, Sam Kershaw and Scott Butterworth reached double figures as we were removed for a modest 86 after 26 overs and suffered a crushing 181 run defeat. Tom Hartley 3 for 0 and Josh Bohannon 3 for 9 did most damage with the ball.

Consistency was the name of the game on Sunday throughout the Innings as Garstang posted a competitive 233 for 9 from their allocated 45 overs in the Lancashire Foundation Knock out first round tie. Scott Butterworth 3 for 43 and Jhangir Liaqat 4 for 27 were the pick of the bowlers. Danny Gilbert, 4 for 37, and Greg Bishop, 1 for 40, dismantled our early order reducing us to a disappointing 31 for 4. Despite a defiant fifth wicket liaison of 89 between Danny Davies, 44, and Neil Wiiliams 51, the writing appeared to be on the wall. Jhangir Liaqat, 12, Jamie Siddall, 36, Kieran New, 16, and 12 penalty runs for a slow over rate added some respectability guiding us to 213 all out at stumps but alas a 20 run reversal.
