We are saddened to share the news that Peter C Massen our well respected former President 1978-79 and Chairman 1994-97 has passed away peacefully with his wife Lorna at his side. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with Lorna and family as they navigate through this sad time.
A much loved Husband, Father, Brother, Father in law, Grandad and friend to many, Peter joined Bootle from Sefton in 1952 and quickly progressed to 2nd Xl captain 1968 in the 2nd XI he played 175 matches scoring 2045 runs and 270 wickets. Peter then played 67 matches for the 1st XI scoring 295 runs and took 61 wickets. After retiring his bat he spent many years working hard behind the scenes to keep the club going through very many tough years and it is very much his legacy that our club stands in the good stead it does today. The tireless hours of voluntary work that he put in to raise funds and covenants to get the club rebuild off the ground applying for the lottery grant shows to date his work paid off and we will forever be in his debt for his dedication to our club, thank you Peter.
Funeral service and cremation is to be held at Anfield Crematorium, Priory Road. L4 2SL on
Tuesday November 5th 2024
at 12 noon.
Following on from the service all welcome to share some memories and raise a glass from 1pm at Firwood Bootle Cricket Club, Wadham Road L20 2DD
