Firwood Bootle remained top of the Premier League winning at Ormskirk by seven wickets last Saturday and progressed to the second round of the Liverpool Echo Knockout Cup after six wicket victory at Maghull last Thursday night.Jonathan Ring, 38, Joe Medew-Ewen, 23, and Joe Campbell, 15, saw Maghull well placed on 85 for 3. However Scott Butterworth, 3 for 14, and Will Purser, 4 for 16, rapidly dismantled the latter order restricting the home side to 107 for 9 in their allocated twenty overs.Worthy contributions from Scott Butterworth, 22, Sam Kershaw, undefeated on 28, and Jamie Siddall, 33, eased the visitors towards a comfortable 6 wicket triumph with six overs to spare setting up a second round tie at Ormskirk.

On Saturday we visited Ormskirk when Scott Butterworth, 3 for 47, and Jhangir Liaqat 3 for 21, had Ormskirk struggling on 83 for 7. Tom Hartley, 19, and Ryan Maddock, 26, put up stubborn resistance with an eighth wicket stand of 40 as Vishal Tripathi was introduced to the attack with devastating effect taking 3 for 9 off just 3.5 overs mopping up the lower order with a modest 133 runs on the Scoreboard after 49.5 overs. Will Hale held Firwood Bootle`s response together with a high quality unbeaten 75 from 109 deliveries as Mike Farrell, 24, gave him fine support in an opening liaison of seventy eight. Josh Bohannon, 2 for 46, with some fiery seam bowling and Tom Hartley, 1 for 34, temporally put the brakes on reducing the visitors to 93 for 3. Danny Davies, undefeated on 27, took the former out of the attack hitting eleven off his eleventh over leaving his side no further problems claiming a seven wicket victory with 5.4 overs in hand.

On Friday 7th June Firwood Bootle entertain Liverpool at Wadham Road at 6 pm in the National t/20. Saturday is a trip over the water to Wallasey in the Premier League and on Sunday are at Ormskirk once again in the Royal London National Club Championship.
