Firwood Bootle had a far from comfortable four wicket victory over Southport and Birkdale at Wadham Road last Saturday on a bowler friendly wicket caused by adverse weather conditions in the days leading up to the match.

Southport won the toss and were dismantled for a very modest 64 after 33.1 overs. Will Purser, 4 for 27, Kieron New, 2 for 16, and Jhangir Liaqat, 3 for 4, did most of the damage. Isaac Lea, 10 and Bradley Yates plus Gary Keedy, 14 a-piece, were the only batsmen to really trouble the Scorers.

In response  Angus Gailey, 3 for 17, and Gary Keedy, 2 for 18, shone with the ball  reducing Firwood Bootle to 63 for 6.Mike Farrell,10. and Danny Davies,17,were the only  Firwood Bootle players to reach double figures.

Neil Williams and Danny Hart ended proceedings for the day at 16.47 hours, after 22.1 overs, cementing their position on the top of the Premier League.

This coming Saturday Firwood Bootle entertain Leigh at Wadham Road in the Premier League.
