It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Eve Douglas ( Cockbain), a lifelong and much-loved member of Bootle Cricket Club, who passed away on Friday 20th June, aged 90. Eve’s journey with Bootle began at just six years old, when she first came to Wadham Road to watch her brothers play cricket — the beginning of a lifelong passion for the game and the club. Over the decades, she became a cornerstone of our community, supporting through generations as she raised her children Diane, Ian, and Ange, and later cheered on her grandchildren from the boundary. A constant presence at matches, Eve’s loyalty and love for the club were matched only by her generosity. Whether ferrying grandchildren to games or feeding players and supporters from the boot of her car, Eve’s selfless nature and infectious smile became symbols of what makes Bootle Cricket Club truly special. Her unwavering support, competitive spirit, and warm heart touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Eve’s legacy will live on in the memories of those she supported and inspired. She will be deeply missed by all of us at Bootle CC. Our thoughts are with Eve’s family during this time.
